Thank you Dr. Brightman I hated history while in high school. It was myopic and one sided and whitewashed. In college I was fortunate enough to take a history class from Dr. Lehman Brightman. The founder of United Native Americans Inc. He helped led the "Longest Walk", a spiritual walk from SF to Washing DC for Native rights in 78. The taking back of the sacred hills, now called Mt Rushmore, and the taking back of Alcatraz Island. Between Dr. Brightman and author several fictional history authors, from Ishmael Reed to Jean M. Auel, I found a love for history during my college days. I am my families historian....for better or for worse.

I am so sorry to read just now while looking up accurate info on Dr. Brightman that he has lost to of his sons to senseless violence this year. No parent should bury their child, much less two of them. From my heart to yours Sir.
